Real Purpose of Education?

Hi all after writing a blog about quality and six sigma. I would like to talk about one topic which always excited me when I think about it. Before I talk about this topic I would like to say that I respect education and every educated person in the world. Do not get offended by some sentence or words I might use.

What is the sole purpose of education?

Everyone has a perception towards education it helps you to get a Job, If you are educated then you are respected in society, it helps you to make wise decision.

My Question is does education really makes you get all the above. Let’s start with the first one it helps you to get a job. This is a real tough one why was IIM and IIT institution were established what the reason was behind having such esteemed institution to create entrepreneurs or to provide excellent working class for MNC in Europe and USA. When a MBBS Doctor can start a clinic of his own why a MBA grad doesn’t have the courage to start his/her own Business. If he cannot than why he wants to study MBA to work for someone and keep cursing his superior that he doesn’t know as much I know.

You might ask a question to me if all start their business who will work in that. Considering India’s population and per capita income there would be millions of highly qualified unemployed ready to work for you.

We hear every day about a farmer committing suicide because he is not able to pay his loan to the bank and we have heard similar kind of news when there was recession software engineer committing suicide with his entire family as he was unable to pay loan. Can you find any difference between a highly qualified and not qualified human. They both did the same thing when put in a similar situation one did it because he was not ready to lose his respect in the society and other did because that was his only choice (again my perception). Than how did education help us to make wise decision here?

We all see education as the key to a successful and bright future but we really don’t know what holds for all of us in the future.

Education does not tell if you become a failure what you should do to overcome your failure. Does it help you to realize your strengths I have no clue about that because till today I do not know what the right path I need to take?
